Cheryl Butler - The Park Record


The Park Record published a profile of the candidates running for Utah House District 53.  Cheryl Butler is quoted as saying “Education is a big concern, and making sure that we have appropriate funding for education. Health care, housing affordability — all of those things impact rural Utah. But what I find is that people feel pretty strongly that their voice in rural Utah is not being heard and that resources tend to be focused and concentrated in the valley, in the larger urban areas.”  The complete article can be found at this link.

Bicycle Donation Drive - KPCW

Cheryl Butler was interviewed on KPCW today, with Donna McAleer of the Bicycle Coalition.  They discussed the upcoming Bicycle Donation Drive in Summit & Wasatch Counties.  Cheryl is the Community Service Director of the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club and said despite the disappointment of losing this year’s Tour de Sunrise and bicycle parade to the pandemic, the Rotary club still wanted to find a unique way to serve the community.  “We wanted to do something for community service and this proposal came up to work with The Bicycle Collective and it just seemed to fit perfectly," she said. Campaign Events in the Park


Cheryl Butler (HD53) joined Katy Owens (SD19) for a socially distanced, outdoor campaign event on Saturday at 4pm in Pinebrook Park.   The casual event was designed to allow residents of the Pinebrook and WagonWheel neighborhoods to drop by and meet the candidates in a safe and welcoming setting.   Campaign Events in the Park will continue through the summer at different parks in HD53.   The next event will be Saturday, July 25 at 4pm in The Woods at Parley's Lane at the end of Sunrise Drive.

Cheryl Butler - The Park Record


Cheryl Butler, Community Services Director for the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club, was published today in The Park Record.  "Rotarians Step Up during COVID19" details the public service activities led by Butler and the Utah District 5420 COVID19 response team to meet the needs of Utahns during the pandemic.  Included are projects to produce hundreds of face masks, 6000 face shields, conduct food drives and bottle hand sanitizer for local communities.

Bottling Hand Sanitizer for Local Business


Rotarians from Park City Sunrise Rotary Club fill one gallon bottles with hand sanitizer for free distribution to local businesses.  This effort organized by Cheryl Butler, was a collaboration between Summit County Health Dept, Sunrise Rotary and Park City Rotary to bottle >300 gallons of hand sanitizer for local businesses.

Collection for the Navajo Nation 


The Sunrise Rotary Club is assisting Rotary Clubs in Southern Utah to transport basic supplies to the Navajo.  If you want to help, purchase needed items listed below and drop them off at Ecker Hill "Park n Ride" this Thursday, May 21,  12:00-1.   Cheryl Butler will be there to collect donated items.  Everything will be taken to the Navajo in Montezuma Creek.  Items needed include: basic cleaning supplies, food, and baby diapers

Devin Thorpe's popular YouTube channel Plugin to Devin featured an interview with Cheryl Butler this week.  Cheryl discussed the Utah Rotary Clubs' response to the Covid19 pandemic, focusing on efforts to sew masks, assembly face shields and provide supplies to area food banks, among other efforts.

UDP State Convention - HD53 Candidate


The Utah Democratic Party held their State Convention virtually on Saturday, April 25.   In addition to finalizing the Democratic candidate nominations for US Congress and State-wide races, the State Delegates confirmed the new platform, and the UT House and UT State Senate Candidates.   Cheryl Butler will be the Democratic candidate in November for Utah HD53.  The complete list can be found here.

Social Distancing Causes Campaigns to Go Virtual


As Utah's counties implement social distancing directives, to ensure that residents "Stay Home and Stay Safe,"  political campaigns are adjusting. Caucus nights were cancelled in many counties. In an exception, Summit County successfully held both its Democratic Caucus night and County Convention virtually, with voting conducted by phone and online.  Local campaigns have also adjusted. Cheryl Butler, candidate for HD53, is ramping up social media and will be using videos and virtual meetings to connect with voters, until such time as it is safe to conduct more traditional, in-person events.

Cheryl Butler Declares Candidacy

Coalville, UT

Cheryl Butler declared her candidacy today for Utah House of Representatives, District 53.  A resident of Summit County, Cheryl is retired, after working 34 years as an engineer and senior manager with Chevron.  She is married with 5 children and 2 grandchildren.   Butler is active in the local community, serving on the Boards of multiple civic organizations. Cheryl says that she wishes to use her family, corporate and community experience to be an effective public servant.  She intends to actively communicate with District 53's diverse residents which reside across five counties from Idaho to Colorado, then working to ensure that their voices are heard.
